As Week 6 of the Winter Equestrian Festival continues in Wellington, Florida, some riders with equipment at the site said they have lost thousands of dollars after their storage area was burglarized in recent days, according to local news reports.

"We came back around 9:00 and noticed that everything in our room was totally gone,” Ashley Glica told WPTV. “All our equipment, tack, my gear for riding, everything was gone from the room."

"Show equipment is very expensive, so it's a big loss," added Josee Stedding, who has been competing there for more than 20 years. Both women told the network that they had lost about $20,000 worth of equipment, but Stedding said many of the pieces are personal and irreplaceable. "Some of them were given to us by my husband's father, and most of those had a story to them," she said.

Organizers say they employ 70 security guards, and five of them are on the grounds 24/7, WPTV reports. Cameras are also installed around the grounds and this kind of incident is not common, they add. A police report was taken, and the investigation is ongoing. Video below the break from WPTV. >>>
