The inaugural Liftmaster Grand-Prix Eventing Invitational is taking place March 1–2 in the town of Aiken at Bruce’s Field, named after the late Bruce Duchossois. As the venue’s web site describes, “Bruce Duchossois purchased the field in 2000…. with a vision of its past, present, and future as a fixture of Aiken’s equestrian tradition. While his immediate goal was to save the land from residential development, Bruce’s dream was to grow it into South Carolina’s premier equestrian facility—maintaining its historic character, and paying forward the generosity of his predecessors.”

Duchossois, a well-known horseman who passed away in 2014, envisioned an equestrian site accessible to riders of all levels, and the upcoming competition will be at the top end of the range as a USEF Advanced level recognized competition. Eventing Nation’s Jenni Autry got a preview of the 2,500-meter cross-country course construction in January, which incorporates obstacles based on local landmarks.

In this video, Phillip Dutton – one of the eventing showcase's organizers – talks about his late friend and their connection through (among other things) Dutton's 2016 Olympic mount Mighty Nice. For more information on the eventing showcase, and tickets, see here.
