The president of US Equestrian, the national governing body for most equestrian sports in the United States, gave an overview of the federation’s activities, successes and challenges during last week’s Annual Meeting of the organization in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Speaking at the event’s general session, Murray Kessler highlighted the organization’s mission statement of bringing "the joy of horse sports to as many people as possible,” and providing "access to and increas[ing] participation in equestrian sports at all levels by ensuring fairness, safety, and enjoyment” and said these remained the core objectives of the USEF’s Strategic Plan. Paying tribute to volunteers and others who are essential to the body’s operations, Kessler presented updates about plan as well as an overview on the inner workings of US Equestrian: Step 1: Improving Core Processes and CapabilitiesStep 2: Ensure Safety, Fairness and Enjoyment for MembersStep 3: Provide a sufficient pathway for athletes to win at the highest levels and inspire the next generationStep 4: Marketing initiativesStep 5: Growing MembershipFor more details on the initiatives Kessler says US Equestrian has undertaken in these different areas, see here for the USEF text and here for the original presentation by its president.
