Mario Deslauriers Suspended After Positive Test

The International Equestrian Federation FEI has announced the provisional suspension of two riders, one a show jumper and one an event rider based on positive analysis findings after recent competitions.

One of them is the Canadian Mario Deslauriers, who was part of the three-man team of Canada at the Nations Cup finals in Barcelona, ​where his horse made the positive test. In the samples taken during the Longines Nations Cup finals earlier this month, his mare Bardolina 2 (Clarimo x Landos) was tested positive for O-desmethylvenlafaxine, a substance not permitted in equestrian sports. Mario Deslauriers is suspended for two months, so he is not allowed to compete in tournaments until 29 December 2018. Deslauriers also represented Canada at the 2018 World Championships in Tryon.

The second case of doping concerns eventing rider Juan Pablo Garcia Salgado, whose horse Caipirina (Calido x Acrobat) competed at the CIC1 * in Bonza (Colombia) in September. At this event, a sample was taken which turned out to be positive. Also for this rider is that he is temporarily suspended
