29!! Watch As Wonder Mare Winx Makes More Racing History

The Longines World Best Racehorse title looks like it may be heading  to Australia as wonder mare Winx  landed her 29th straight win   this morning.

Running in the Cox Plate, one of Australia's most famous and prestigeous races, the mare was an easy winner over British trained Benbatl.  This was her fourth win in the race, a feat never achieved before, and she could not have made it look easier, always in command  from the final bends.

However, with regard to the title, purists will argue (again) that the opposition was substandard. Runner -up Benbatl is rated at 123,  significantly lower than European champions Enable and Cracksman.  Winx has not been headed in over three years though and regardless of the rankings, this is a significant training feat  by Chris Waller to keep the mare in top form for that period.

The destiny of the Longines award for 2018 may well rest on the out come of next week's Breeders Cup meeting at Churchill Downs in Kentucky, USA where Enable is a planned runner.
