In the CSI3*, around 70 riders have confirmed their participation at the Deauville event – among them, France’s gold medalists from Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Staut, Philippe Rozier and Penelope Leprevost. Many foreigners are also making the trip, like Brazilian Pedro Veniss, Italian Piergorgio Bucci, Belgian Rick Hemeryck and Irishman Cian O'Connor, bronze medallist at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The very fast Abdel Saïd of Egypt, bronze medallist at the Mediterranean Games at the beginning of the summer, will also be taking part in the event this year, and Great Britain’s Laura Renwick and Guy Williams will defend the colours of the Union Jack.

And don't forget the Normans of course! Among the French group in Deauville, many riders will also represent the Normandy region, like the very popular Patrice Delaveau, winner last year of the Longines Race, Félicie Bertrand, gold medallist at the Mediterranean Games in Barcelona a few weeks ago, and the very fast Julien Epaillard. Mathieu Billot, a member of the French team at several Nations Cups in recent years, will be there, as will Olivier Guillon and Alexandra Ledermann, the first French rider to win an Olympic medal – in 1996 in Atlanta. And of course, Alexandra Paillot, winner of the Grand Prix last year, will be back to defend her title. Article continues below.

In the CSI*, there are also many young hopefuls to watch, especially from France, including Valentine Delaveau, Eden Leprevost Blin Lebreton, and Marion Navet, daughter of Eric Navet, two-time World Champion in Individual (1990) and Team (2002) and European multi-medallist. In addition to the action in the arena, other not-to-be-missed activities at the LONGINES DEAUVILLE CLASSIC will include:

- The Longines Race, which will take place in two stages Thursday, August 16th. The race will take place at 12:00 at the Hippodrome de Deauville La Touques and the show jumping event will be held at 18:30 at International Pole of Deauville!
- The closing ceremony, presented by Alicia Dosogne, Clément Ferron and others, will mix dressage and cossack acrobatics in a gentle and thrilling spectacle. For more details, see the Longines Deauville Classic web site.
