The Longines FEI European Youth Championships have begun in France

The 2018 LONGINES FEI EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS officially kicked off this Sunday with the first horse inspections and site orientations. To follow the highlights of these championships and their extraordinary gathering of the three Olympic disciplines in Fontainebleau, France, you can check out FEI TV (link at the end of the article). Starting today, Monday, the first Children’s Jumping qualifiers have been taking place on the Field of Honor from 8 a.m. local time in Fontainebleau.  On Tuesday, Dressage will take centre stage with the preliminary test for Children, from 8 a.m. in the Spring Garden at the Grand Parquet site. It will be followed by the first part of the Junior Dressage Team events. In parallel, the Jumping will be held on the same day on the Field of Honour, with the first qualifying event of the Young Riders at 9:30, then the first team round of the Children at 2 p.m. For more information on the competition, see here.

Wednesday will be see the first medals given out, but before that, the first part of the Young Rider Dressage Team event starts at 8 am. In the afternoon, the second part of the Dressage Juniors Team event will take place at 1 p.m., and will crown the first European champions. On the Jumping side, the Juniors qualifying event will unfold starting at 9 a.m. and at 2.30 p.m. the second round of the Children's Team events will take place, with the first Team champions will be determined at this time.  

While the Dressage will continue at the Spring Garden from 8 a.m. on Thursday for the whole day, celebrating the European Champions Young Riders in Individual and Team Children, and the Jumping will continue on the Field of Honour, with Eventing riders entering into the action with their Dressage events on the Petit Parquet. 
 
On Friday, the Juniors and Young Dressage Riders will start the first part of their individual events. The Dressage of the all-around will continue on the Field of Honor, while the jumping Juniors and Young Riders will compete in the second round of the team events.

On Saturday, Dressage will continue at 8 a.m., with the second part of the Juniors and Young Riders' Individual Dressage events and the Jumping with the Children's individual events.

The flagship event of Eventing, the cross-country, will begin at 11:15 a.m. local time for the Juniors and 3 p.m. for the Young Riders. The exceptional course, which will cross the Salamandre, then the forest of Fontainebleau, before crossing the village of the exhibitors and arriving at the stadium, which will be followed live for those in France on GRANDPRIX.tv, and elsewhere on FEI TV. 
 
Finally on Sunday, the Juniors and Young Riders will be in action at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Eventers will start their Jumping test in the early afternoon. And over at the Field of Honour, the Individual Junior and Young Rider European Champions will be declared.
