World Cup Vaulting Opens with Italian Win

World Cup Vaulting is the last of the indoor disciplined to begin qualifiers for FEI series 2018 finals and the first round last night in Madrid saw wins for Italy and Switzerland.

The Italian Anna Cavallaro has shown why she occupies the first position in the international ranking of this discipline, winning another year at Madrid Horse Week with a spectacular performance that has given the well deserved 8.615 points, which added to the previous day make a total of 8.500 points. Second was the German Kristina Boe with a score of 8.476 and a total of 8.110 points. Third was another Italian, Silvia Stopazzini that adds a total of 8.107 points in both qualifiers. Fernando Pascual, General Director of Compass Group in Spain and Portugal was in charge of giving the prize to the star of the turn.

On the other hand, in the masculine qualifying class, Francisco Benítez, Director of Vilaplana Catering, gave him the prize to the the Swiss Lukas Heppler who overtook the German Jannick Heiland, and was placed first with a score of 8.545 points, which added to those of the first qualifier make a total of 8.689 points, placing the Swiss in the lead for the next stage. Heiland, who was first in yesterday’s qualifier, finished second with a score of 8.433 points. Third was the Hungarian Balazs Bence with a total score of 8,192 points.
