The Olympian rider, who is based in Guttecoven in the Netherlands, is listed to ride at the elite CSI 5-W* level at the IFEMA – Feria de Madrid complex, which will be hosting the sixth leg of Longines FEI Western European League qualifying. Alongside Kessler at the competition — which will run in parallel with Dressage, Vaulting and the traditional Maestros de la Vaquera Cup in Spain — are most of the elite Western European riders trying to nail down a spot in next year’s Paris Final.

They include Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat, winner of last weekend’s World Cup stage in Stuttgart and current leader in the standings (with mounts Bianca and Hannah), Kessler’s former trainer Marcus Ehning of Germany (Cristy, Pret A Tout), Kevin Staut of France (For Joy van't Zorgvliet HDC, Reveur de Hurtebise HDC) and Scott Brash of Great Britain with Hello Forever and Hello Mr President. Sergio Alvarez Moya will be leading the Spanish contingent of 8 riders on home soil,  on Carlo 273 and Iron Man. The full entries list is here.
