Action is now underway and continues through Sunday at the prestigious CCI4* Les 4 Etoiles de Pau in southwest France — one of just a handful of 4*-level Eventing competitions around the world. Video below the break.
Four riders from North America are listed among the 64 entries at the elite Eventing competition this year: Hawley Bennett-Awad (Canada) with Jollybo, and Bruce O. Davidson Jr., Alexandra Knowles and Boyd Martin (United States) on Copper Beach, Sound Prospect and Cracker Jack, respectively. They will be up against crème-de-la-crème rivals in the sport over the course of this weekend's Dressage, Cross-Country and Show Jumping phases, including World No.1 Michael Jung of Germany, Andrew Nicholson and Mark Todd of New Zealand and last year’s winner Maxime Livio of home side France. Located near the Spanish border and the Atlantic Ocean’s Bay of Biscay in France’s Aquitaine region, Pau offers beautiful views of the snow-capped Pyrénées mountain range. But this weekend, the eyes of equestrian sports fans will be on the powerful horses and riders battling for bragging rights at the celebrated event, which also features a CAIO4*. To follow the action live, see below the break (France is six hours ahead of the Eastern time zone in North America) or click on this link. Schedule. Leaderboard.
