The Fair Hill International, which has been around since 1989, is one of the most prestigious international three-day events in the world. And O’Hanlon’s victory with Foxwood High, a 14-year-old Canadian Sport Horse owned by John and Judy Rumble, marks the first Canadian victory in the Fair Hill CCI3*.

Indeed, as Eventing Nation reported after consulting with EquiRatings, “it has been three years since a Canadian won a CCI3* event anywhere in the world. [And] in the last decade, Canadians have [only] won four CCI3* events: Hawley Bennett-Awad and Gin & Juice at Bromont in 2009, Jessica Phoenix and Exponential at Jersey Fresh in 2013, and Jessica Phoenix and A Little Romance at Bromont in 2014.”

O'Hanlon also received The Linda Moore Trophy as the highest placed foreign entry at this year's Fair Hill, as well as The Beale Wright Morris Memorial Trophy as the leading lady in the CCI***, organizers noted.

“Exhilarating,” O’Hanlon said about her state of mind after the win. “I’m super excited for the horse at this level. It was personal bests all the way through.”

Eventing is widely known as the 'Triathlon of equestrian sport,' and O’Hanlon and her mount rode through the ups and downs of the recent days’ dressage, cross-country, and show jumping phases to end up on top of the leaderboard and take home the 1st place prize money of $15,000. William Coleman III and Tight Lines were second, Boyd Martin and Tsetserleg came in third, and Buck Davidson and Carlevo finished fourth.

On Selena O’Hanlon’s web site, her Eventing partner ‘Woody’ is described as follows: “Foxwood High or "Woody" as he's known in the barn is a 17h Canadian Sport Horse gelding (Hanovarian x TB) competing at the CCI 4* level. Woody was bred by Hugh Graham and owned by John & Judy Rumble. John rode in the 1956 Stockholm Olympics earning a Bronze medal for Canada, it's wonderful having owners that know the sport so well. Woody's favourite show venue is the Volvo Bromont 3-Day Event, he always performs well there and enjoys the relativly short drive.”

The Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International three-day event is currently awaiting approval by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), as the new CCI**** event to join the Kentucky Three-Day Event as the only two CCI**** events in the Western Hemisphere and just the seventh CCI**** on the FEI global calendar.
