Just a few days after the 2017 FEI European Eventing Championships wrapped up with a British victory in Strzegom, Poland, another prestigious competition has kicked off in Ireland today, with several North American horse-and-rider duos in attendance: the Millstreet International Horse Trials. For a video tour of the Irish site, see below the break.

At the event at Drishane Castle, County Cork, in the south of the country, Mike Etherington-Smith has put together courses which will challenge the competitors present on the Emerald Isle this week, including (to name a just a few): recent Millbrook Horse Trials winners Sara Kozumplik Murphy (U.S) and Rubens D’Ysieux; Jennie Brannigan (U.S.) and Stella Artois; Hannah Sue Burnett (U.S.) with Harbour Pilot and RF Demeter; Kim Severson (U.S.) and Cooley Cross Border; Katherine Coleman (U.S.) and Back to Business II; and  Kathryn Robinson (Canada) and Let It Bee. The full list of entries and live leaderboards can be seen here.

As Eventing Nation reports, Ireland’s Jonty Evans and Cooley Rorkes Drift are also a “pair to watch” after a successful crowdfunding campaign to keep the two of them together.

At the time of publication Thursday, competitors were in the midst of the Dressage test, and live results can be followed here as the riders move through the Show Jumping and Cross-Country phases. Photos of the competition can be seen on Millstreet’s Facebook page. And for a tour of the site with American Sara Kozumplik Murphy, see the video below the break.
