Werth and Minderhoud Show World Cup Ambitions

The message has been sent. Olympic Champion Isabell Werth of Germany and Defending World Cup Champion Hans-Peter Minderhoud of the Netherlands are in fine form as they head toward the big event at the end of this month.

Two of the favourites for the FEI Reem Acra World Cup Dressage Final in Omaha, Nebraska, from March 27 – April 2 both captured first place finishes at this past weekend’s CDI-W and CDI 4* in s-Hertogenbosch, Holland.

Werth, the most decorated equestrian athlete in modern Olympic history with 6 golds and 4 silvers, won Friday’s  CDI-W Grand Prix. Riding Emilio, the German had an average of 80%, ahead of Minderhoud and Glock’s Flirt with 77.020%.

In Saturday’s Freestyle, the last stage of the Western European League qualifying circuit for the Dressage World Cup later this month in Omaha, it was Minderhoud’s turn to take the top of the podium with 84.890, putting an end to Werth’s recent winning streak and relegating her and Emilio to second place (83.300%).
