World #2 Delestre Sees Chance to Move Up

French show jumper Simon Delestre, currently second in the global rankings behind Germany’s Christian Ahlmann and ahead of American Mclain Ward, recently spoke to Grand Prix-Reply ahead of the Longines Masters in Paris this weekend. Asked about his plans for the upcoming season, the World #2 described his upcoming European and international itinerary, and his hopes going forward.

“This winter, I plan to compete [first] in the CSI 5*s of Paris, Geneva and Malines,” Delestre told GP as part of an in-depth interview. “In January, I would like to go to the CSI 5*s in Basel, Leipzig, Zurich and Bordeaux. For the rest of 2017, I have a very good group of horses which makes me very hopeful. I think I will be at all the major events next year. Obviously there is always the risk of an injury, but there are many opportunities in December and January to, maybe, hope to pick up a little place in the world rankings, who knows…”
