Countdown to Omaha World Cup Finals

The clock is ticking in Omaha. Members of the public gathered this weekend in the city’s Turner Park for the unveiling of a countdown clock to the 2017 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping and Dressage Finals, which will take place in the Nebraskan city’s CenturyLink Center from March 29-April 2.

The FEI world championships will be a first for Omaha, which beat out London, Hong Kong and ’s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands for the right to host the event.

“We are excited to be pioneers in bringing the first world professional sports championship to Omaha,” said Mike West, CEO of the Omaha Equestrian Foundation. “It is an opportunity to show the world what a terrific sports town Omaha is, and for sports enthusiasts from the Midwest to see the very best in international equestrian competition without having to travel to the coasts or overseas.”

Riders and their mounts are currently competing in the qualifying phase in different FEI leagues across the world, with numerous pairs taking part in this evening’s Jumping Toronto, one of 14 North American League qualifiers for the Final in Omaha.
