Diamant de Semilly is back on top of the world. The twenty-five-year-old at the Couvains Stud Farm in Normandy, France. has been named the number one sire in the world by the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) for the second year running. It’s a coronation for the son of Le Tot de Semlly, listed in numerous studbooks including those of Holstein, Zangersheide and BWP. Admittedly the bay knows how to pass along his qualities: one only has to consider Quickly de Kreisker, Emerald or Kalaska de Semilly.

Behind Diamant, For Pleasure takes the silver medal for sires. The son of Furioso II, approved to produce Hanoverians, Oldenbourgs, Westphalians and Holsteins, owes his rank in part to talented descendants such as Funky Fred, Barron and Québec Tame.Rounding out the podium is Cornet Obolensky. The son of Clinton, approved for  Hanoverians, Selles Français and Oldenbourgs, can take pride in offspring such as Crespo PKZ, Cornado NRW and Corbinian.

Casall (Holst, Caretino) takes fourth place this year, notably represented by Caracas, Casello and Cordial, a relative novice who has shown great things. Kannan (KWPN, Voltaire) also figures on the list, thanks to Nino des Buissonnets, Quorida de Trého and Sultan du Château. In the next spot is Kashmir van't Schuttershof (sBs, Nabab de Rêve), sire of Rêveur de Hurtebise*HDC and H&M All In. In seventh place in the rankings is Balou du Rouet (Old, Baloubet du Rouet), progenitor of Balou Rubin R, First Class van Eeckelghem and Bisquet Balou C.

Coming in eighth place among the top global studs is Chacco Blue (Meckl, Chambertain), well represented by the excellent Crazy Quick, but also Tailormade Chaloubet and Chaccland. Baloubet du Rouet (SF, Galoubet A) is ninth, thanks to Palloubet d'Halong, Querlybet Hero and Be Once Z. Cardento (Holst, Capitol I) closes out the top ten — a place he owes to Quarto Mail and H&M Cue Channa.

According to the WBFSH, the rankings are calculated in the same manner as the FEI Rider Rankings, although the WBFSH rankings have a fixed time-span throughout a year from October 1st until September 30th.
