Gina Schumacher Pays Tribute to her Father
Saturday night, Fieracavalli (7-10 November) hosted a choreographic performance with a Ferrari theme by Gina Maria Schumacher, paying tribute to her father Michael, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion. The 22 years old rider competed in the freestyle event and for the occasion wore a red suit, helmet and even a specific costume for her horse; she simulated a full-scale pit stop with the help of eight mechanics to “change tyres”. In previous days, Schumacher’s daughter grabbed the title of champion in the saddle of Shine N Whiz for the reining competitions in the non-pro category of the Elementa Masters Première, a competition circuit that made its debut this year at Fieracavalli, with a total prize fund of 300,000 dollars. The reining discipline traces its origins to the Wild West, when cowboys had to perform almost acrobatic movements to vaccinate and look after cattle: long slides to cut off the escape route of fleeing animals, sudden turnarounds and “ground skimming” gallops.
