Video: horses evacuated in dramatic Los Angeles area wildfires

Alongside people, horses and other wildlife are also being affected by the fast-moving wildfires ravaging parts of Southern California. Videos below.

As the Los Angeles Times reports, the Los Angeles Police Department has issued mandatory evacuation orders for parts of the metropolis due to a 50-acre wildfire near the 405 Freeway and Mulholland Drive in Bel-Air.

Dramatic images have been shown on Twitter and elsewhere, including Rebecca Keegan’s video below of a blazing hillside beside the freeway. And as KPCC reports, fires have struck “in the heart of L.A.’s equestrian community that encompasses Lakeview Terrace, Sylmar and Shadow Hills. Hundreds of horses are kept in ranches and stables here, thanks to an equine tradition long supported by the area's trail system.”

This has prompted horse evacuations in the smokey, siren-filled environment, video of which Josie Huang posted on Twitter (also below).
